If you’ve been following my flickr photostream, you’ve seen that the first new bag design of 2009, the Zugster handlebar bag is underway. I knocked off a couple of quick non-functional prototypes on Sunday to get a feel for putting them together and to experiment with how I’d like to make them.

This triptych shows how the flap closes. Instead of separate flaps across the interior, secured by a bungie, like most Specialites TA-derived bags use, I opted for these “folding wings” on the side. They hopefully provide a little more security against rain, and I just like how they work. They work a lot like the flap on the Zugster backpack does.
