The basic hip pack is a big pocket with velcro, an internal D-ring, and two flat outside pockets. Simple and easy to operate. You can clip a carabiner or lanyard to the D-ring to secure your keys.

Hip pack, hip pouch, fanny pack, bum bag – whatever you want to call it, it’s a small bag on a belt, for carrying the essentials around without the need for a large messenger bag, or to have them more easily accessible in conjunction with a messenger bag.

Hip packs come in one size. The flat dimensions are 9” wide x 6” high 2.5” deep. 9” is the dimension across the top of the pack, where the flap folds down. At the bottom, which is what the width will be when the bag is packed full, it’s 6.5” wide. You can comfortably stuff a cell phone, keys, wallet, multi tool, small snack, and 3 or 4 CDs in one.

  • Sturdy floating liner construction, just like full-sized bags.
  • 2 flat outside pockets
  • A 1” d-ring on the inside of the bag, for attaching a carabiner or lanyard for keys.
  • An adjustable, removable belt made from 1.5” webbing. Opens to approximately 42” max (this can be made shorter or longer as necessary). The back of the pack has two belt loops, so it can be used on your own belt if you prefer.

Options

  • Internal Divider, $6. This is a divider which splits the interior of the bag in half, to keep your stuff separate. It lays flat against the back of the bag when empty, so it doesn’t reduce the capacity of the bag at all. Velcros shut.
  • Blinkie loop, $3. A loop of webbing added to the flap for mounting an LED taillight.
  • Reflective tape, $3. Add a stripe of 3M ScotchLite™ reflective tape for visibility. These can be positioned however you want them. Two vertical stripes? One vertical, one horizontal? Both at a 70 degree angle? No problem.

If you have a favorite patch you’d like sewn onto the flap, you can mail it to me and I’ll add it to the flap during construction. Up to two patches added free, $1 each beyond that.
